Luxembourg Rugby has named its 24-man squad for Saturday’s Conference fixture against Finland in Helsinki (9 May), as the national team prepares for one of its most demanding assignments of the campaign.

Captained by Hugo Bertani (FC Barcelona Rugby), Luxembourg approaches the match fully aware that both the result and the points secured could prove decisive in the race for Conference playoff qualification.

A challenging equation

Following the cancellation of the Latvia fixture, Luxembourg Rugby finds itself with reduced opportunities to accumulate points, increasing the pressure in comparison with Austria in the standings.

With limited margin for error, the objective is clear: deliver a strong performance and maximise points. The opportunity to earn the right to host a final at the Stade de Luxembourg remains, but the pathway has become significantly more demanding.

Head Coach James Kent: “Focus on preparation and execution”. James Kent emphasised the importance of preparation and cohesion: “We are looking forward to a big week of training to prepare against a strong and physical Finnish side fresh off a win against Norway.

It’s great to have the players back together after having missed out on the opportunity to play against Latvia. Our focus is on preparation and execution. We know the level required, and it’s about delivering that consistently over 80 minutes.”

Competing in matches of this intensity is exactly where we want to be. The points situation, particularly in relation to Austria, makes the challenge ahead very clear. Reaching the Conference playoffs and competing for the trophy remains our objective, but we know it will require a complete and committed performance in Helsinki.”

Luxembourg Rugby will host a public viewing for supporters at Oscar's Bar (GRUND) on Saturday at 14:00, offering fans the opportunity to come together and support the national team.
